My branch of the Rathbone family originates in the Wirral. There are early Rathbones in the West  Kirby area from the 1300s, but my comfirmed ancestors start in Puddington and Burton. The first  definite family member being Thomas Rathbone born around 1720 who was married in Burton in 1743.  My Rathbones moved on to Heswall and Gayton where they have lived for many years. If your surname  is Rathbone and you live in Heswall then you are a relative!

Included in this branch of my family are the Birches, Williams, Hughes and Smiths who are all key  members as they married into the Rathbone family.

The Birches in my tree start just before the Rathbones in Neston with William Birch, who was a  Weaver. The Hughes also came from Neston, the Williams from Storeton and the Smiths from Moreton.
